Rika Nakayama

Rika Nakayama is a filmmaker/animator specializing in 2D, experimental, and stop-motion animation with a focus on materiality. Her works often draw inspiration from natural phenomena, memory, and sensory experiences. She received a BFA in Illustration and Film/Animation/Video from Rhode Island School of Design and currently pursuing an MFA in Experimental Animation at California Institute of the Arts. 

神奈川県出身のアニメーション映像作家。アメリカの美術大学ロードアイランド・スクール・オブ・デザインにて映像とイラストレーションを学び、現在はカリフォルニア芸術大学大学院映像学部実験アニメーション学科専攻。様々な素材を用いて身近な現象や記憶、感覚的経験をアニメーションに投影したり、既存の技法に捉われない実験的手法を使ったアニメーションを制作している。
