Rika Nakayama

Rika Nakayama is a filmmaker/animator from Japan, specializing in stop-motion, 2D, and experimental animation. Her works often draw inspiration from nature, memories, and sensory experiences, utilizing tactile materiality to express the intangible. Rika holds a BFA in Illustration and Film/Animation/Video from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA in Experimental Animation from the California Institute of the Arts. She has been teaching animation to youth and working as a filmmaker, animator, and fabricator since 2022.

神奈川県出身のアニメーション映像作家。素材や手法によって視覚的に生み出される感覚を、アニメーションで表現する。ストップモーション、2D、実験的作品など幅広く制作。小中高生向けのアニメーション講師、アニメーター、ストップモーション美術制作、個人制作などで活動中。
