Rika Nakayama

Rika Nakayama is a filmmaker/animator from Japan, specializing in stop-motion, 2D, and experimental animation. Her works often draw inspiration from nature, memories, and sensory experiences, utilizing tactile materials to express intangible subjects. Rika holds a BFA in Illustration and Film/Animation/Video from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA in Experimental Animation from the California Institute of the Arts. She is currently directing a stop-motion short film “Stop Hitting Your Sister,” supported by Film Independent Project Involve Fellowship and LAIKA Studios, while teaching filmmaking and animation to youth in LA.

神奈川県出身のアニメーション映像作家。ストップモーション、2D、実験的作品など幅広く制作。過去にNetflix「BEASTARS」OP映像、Apple TV+「カタチの島」に参加。現在はアニメーション講師をする傍ら、Film IndependentとLAIKAスタジオのサポートを受け、短編ストップモーション映画「Stop Hitting Your Sister」の監督として活動中。
